The United States has participated in 5 FIFA
World Cup tournaments (1930, 1934, 1950,
1990 and 1994). The best finish by a US team in
the FIFA World Cup play was third place in
the 1930 tournament. In 1950, the US enjoyed
its most celebrated FIFA World Cup moment
with a 1-0 upset win over England. And, in 1994,
many people were surprised when the US was
asked to host the 15th FIFA World Cup.
Notes:
Ty produced 32 different Champion Beanie Baby bears; one for each country entered in the FIFA World Cup soccer
tournament in 2002. Each of the bears was retired on the day its country was eliminated from the competition.
The tournament was hosted jointly by Japan and Korea. It was the first time this tournament was hosted by two countries.
Brazil won the championship with a 2 - 0 win over Germany in the final game. FIFA is an acronym for
Fédération Internationale de Football Association.
